Caught the Fever
I call myself a sports enthusiast. I’m able to find enjoyment in just about every sporting event I come in contact with, but to my amazement, the WNBA sent me for a loop. The Indiana Fever faced the L.A. Sparks at Conseco Thursday night, and I figured if I was going to cover and attend a game this summer, that would be it. 36-year old Lisa Leslie and number one draft pick Candace Parker facing a new-look Fever team fired me up! Great team ball, an enthusiastic crowd, and a thrilling double overtime battle, all without Tamika Catchings who’s expected back soon from her off-season Achilles surgery. What I thought was most ironic? Women’s pro basketball’s past (Leslie), its present (Catchings), and its future (Parker) all under one roof on the same court. A night I’ll not soon forget.
