Monday thoughts
-I just got the word that we are in a recession that began last year. What should I do about my weekend holiday purchases?
-I’m impressed by the large number of Obama signs still in yards around Indianapolis. When they disappear, will that be a sign the honeymoon is over?
-Now that Hillary Clinton is in the Cabinet, does John Edwards have a shot? Don’t everyone respond at once, please.
-My Marion County property tax bill arrived, as promised, today. The tax relief delivered by the General Assembly is not only obvious, it means that I will pay less than I did last year. Maybe I can affort that weekend shopping, afterall.

While I would have liked to have seen John Edwards nominated for Attorney General, I am not sure that he could (or even should) receive a spot in the new administration. Make no mistake; his affair is not forgotten nor is the fact that he did so while wife Elizabeth was sick with cancer. However, his advocacy on behalf of the poor in this country is a separate, heartfelt matter and should not be ignored because of his affair. This is a man with talent and honest empathy for working men and women.
My question is: what happened to Tim Roemer? I thought he was in line for head of Homeland Security or another cabinet position?
