Snow Chances

December 15th, 2008 at 5:34 pm by Angela Buchman under Weather

The front that moved through here bringing rain has stalled just to our south.  Behind the front, temperatures have dropped 40 degrees since this morning.  Temperatures overnight are forecast to stay steady and in the teens.  Highs on Tuesday will be in the lower 30s.  Along the stalled front, a wave of low pressure will develop and bring snow to the southern half of the state overnight.  Here is how it looks with Forecast 8 Futurecast.

There is the potential for several inches of snow on the ground for Tuesday morning in areas south of Indianapolis.  The snow showers will spread north, as Tuesday continues.  As slightly warmer air pushes north, the snow will mix with sleet and freezing rain south of Indianapolis.

Snowfall potential is 1-3 inches.  The totals will be higher south and even higher than forecast if it stays all snow.  As with every winter weather system there will be changes, so check back for any and all updates.  Forecast 8 gets new information every 6 hours.
