Slow Start
State lawmakers are in the third week of the 2009 General Assembly and the first bill is yet to be voted on in either the Indiana House or the State Senate.
The House still doesn’t have a bill eligible for amendment.
There have been lots of distractions. The state inauguration, the State of the State, the State of the Judiciary, Martin Luther King Day, and the federal inauguration among them. Nevertheless, deadlines are fast approaching.
Then, again, can anything meaningful be accomplished before a federal bailout arrives?

Why is Indiana only getting an estimated $3 Billion from a $850 Billion National Stimulus Package?
Just dividing 50 states by $850 Billion would mean approximately $17 Billion.
As the 16th most populous state with one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation, we should be questioning why our government representatives can’t bring home a fair portion of any national spending plan and there associated jobs?
