Severe Storms Rolling Through Metro Area

Most of the metro area is under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until at least 1:00pm. Winds along the line of storms have reached 60 miles per hour with higher gusts. I was driving during what seemed like the heaviest of the storm activity and witnessed: the cable that secures the trafic lights at Southport and Emerson was detached and flapping across the intersection while the lights waved turbulently, a tree down across Arlington Ave. obstructing most of the road, and flash flooding like I’ve never seen in this area.
You should have seen the picture we saw as we drove into the strom coming down I69. The sky was full of large long black low lying clouds. The shape of them was soo odd. You just knew it was going to be ruff and was it ever hard to see and hard to keep the car on the road. My son could say it better than I can as he is a certified weather spoter and he was with me.
