Monday Questions

August 17th, 2009 at 5:26 pm by Jim Shella under Jim Shella's Political Blog

It’s a slow time in Indiana politics but there’s lots bubbling below the surface.

-Will Republicans mount a serious challenge to Evan Bayh next year?

-How many GOP candidates will test the waters?   (I’m better it’s more than the current 3.)

-Will Becky Skillman run for governor in 2012?  Will Mike Pence?

-Does a Pence candidacy trump all other Republicans?

-Will Greg Ballard run for re-election as mayor in 2011?

-How many Democrats will go to the post in 2011?

Feel free to add to the list of questions.

More telling would be a Democratic challenge to Bayh in the May primary. There is some dissatisfaction with Bayh among Democrats, but who would be willing to run afoul of the state Party, and risk political exile, for the chance at upsetting Bayh?

Becky Skillman only runs for Governor in Dan Parker’s wildest dreams. It will more likely be Todd Rokita or Richard Mourdock.

No matter who runs on the Republican side for Mayor of Indianapolis, the Democrats will run Jim Schellinger or Joe Hogsett.

What about Ron Stiver for Gov? He clearly has the credentials and capability
