Speedy Running

Republican City County Councillor Mike Speedy wants to be in the General Assembly.

Speedy announced his candidacy today for the seat being vacated by Republican Mike Murphy.   Murphy is running for Congress.  In a news release Speedy promised to pursue a constitutional cap on property taxes and an increase in funding for “responsible” schools.

    Could Speedy simply be running to hold the spot for Murphy, sould Murphy not win the Congressional primary? If Murphy lost the primary in the 5th, Speedy could withdraw up until July 15, 2010, and then the caucus could replace the vacancy with Murphy. Or does Speedy have personal amibtions to serve in the legislature?
