TODAY: Unseasonably mild today as high temperatures topped out at 59º here in Indianapolis. Average high for today is 46º.

TONIGHT: High pressure to our south, continues to bring cloudless skies to Central Indiana. Expect dry conditions overnight and temps not as cold as last night, lows in the low-mid 40s.

SUNDAY: Sunshine for the start of the day then clouds will continue to increase throughout the day as a cold front begins to move in. A few spotty showers for our northern viewing area is possible by 2pm then showers will become more widespread by the evening. Forecast highs will continue to stay mild in the low-mid 50s.

MONDAY: Behind the cold front, temperatures will be much cooler as a colder air mass moves in. Any lingering moisture by Monday morning could change rain over to flurries. The flurries will stay light and move out by Midday. High pressure will move in from the west, so clearing skies expected throughout the day on Monday. Highs in the low 40s.

TONIGHT: Clouds from this morning have cleared as an area of high pressure moves in from the south and the system that brought us the clouds and rain moves to the east. Skies will stay clear overnight and temps will drop to the upper 20s – low 30s by morning.

SATURDAY: Mostly sunny skies for Saturday and high pressure to the southeast will allow for winds to flow out of the Southwest, bringing in mild air for the weekend. Forecast highs will be in the mid 50s, which is about 10º above average.

SUNDAY: Our next weather maker will move in late Sunday. This will bring showers to Central Indiana during this time period. As the front passes, colder air will move in behind it. Some rain could mix with a few flurries by Monday morning.

By now, we’ve seen scene after scene of people rushing into stores — looking for “Black Friday” bargains. A business professor told a CBS interviewer “Black Friday” has “been a myth for quite awhile.” If you’re not familiar with the concept, this is the day retailers are supposed to see their annual sales go from being in the red to in the black.
The professor, Joel Evans of Hofstra University, told CBS: “for some retailers, they’re going to be hanging in until December 31, hoping that that profit happens.” Instead, he said Black Friday may merely indicate the start of a few weeks of better business for retailers.
Discounts are part of the problem. Professor Evans said Black Friday’s ”profit margins are so low that” retailers are “really not making a huge profit on that day as they did in the past.” So, Evans said, retailers must hope shoppers come in for the discounts and then spend their money on other things while they’re in the store.
What are your shopping plans for the holidays, this year? Using cash more than plastic? Is your budget lower than last year’s? How much do you do on-line? It might be interesting to compare your plans to what we hear from stories around the country.
