Congressman Dan Burton is already on cable television with ads promoting his bid for re-election.  He is the first of the 5 well financed candidates in the 5th District to get on the air.

Luke Messer will hit the air Monday with the first ads from a challenger.  Look for a warm and fuzzy spot portraying Messer as a conservative family man who put himself through college (oh, and he’s pro-life.)  The ads should be what matters in this crowded field.  Who gets on, stays on, and the strength of the message  are factors that will separate contenders from pretenders.

Meantime, the candidates are still touting endorsements.  Messer just got one from the Indiana Dental Association.  John McGoff got it two years ago.  Don’t you love competition?
