Mini-Marathon: All About the Bib
Mini-Marathoners will see something different in their race packets, this year. It’s a new timing system. No more chips on the shoes. No tags like those used last year. Race organizers at the 500 Festival say the bib that displays your race number will also carry your timing device. Once you pin on your bib, you’re ready.
The ultra-high frequency tracking technology will record when a runner or walker crosses the starting line, when he or she reaches five miles, then ten miles, and crosses the finish line.
In a press release, Kirk Hendrix, the President and CEO of the 500 Festival, said the new device “will offer participants, yet, a new level of convenience which will result in an overall better experience at our race.”
The Mini-Marathon is set for May 8th.
