Confidence is the watch word at Dan Coats headquarters where the Republican Senate candidate has yet to start TV ads while Democrat Brad Ellsworth has been on the air for almost 5 weeks.

The campaign leaked an internal memo today from pollster Neil Newhouse that explains the confidence.  Newhouse declares Ellsworth “dead in the water”  and says he is getting “no traction” (based on polling done by a firm not connected to the campaign.)

Newhouse believes that Ellsworth is viewed as a liberal by most voters.

My view is that most voters still don’t know who Ellsworth is and it’s still early, but it’s hard to miss that Coats is in an enviable position.
