Jim Wallace removed from May primary ballot
The name of Republican Jim Wallace will not appear on the Indiana May primary ballot. It means Mike Pence is unopposed in his bid for the 2012 GOP nomination for governor.
The state Election commission voted 3-to-1 this morning to remove Wallace’s name from the ballot after hearing a challenge posed by former state Commerce Secretary Mitch Roob. Wallace appeared without an attorney to argue that he was treated unfairly by voter registration officials in Marion County.
They determined that he was 14 signatures short of the requirement for 500 petition signatures in the 7th Congressional district.
Wallace has already run TV ads and invested a million dollars of his own money in his bid to become governor. When asked if his campaign is over, Wallace said, “We’re going to investigate our options at this point and we’ll probably have a statement to make early next week.”
“He didn’t have 500 signatures,” said Roob. “He’s not eligible to run. That’s the way we administer elections in Indiana and someone had to stand up and make that point.”
It’s a boost to the Mike Pence for governor campaign but a spokesman for Pence said that the Congressman has no comment on the Election Board decision.
The Election Commission, meantime, voted to leave the name of Presidential candidate Rick Santorum on the ballot.

Wow, they disqualified over 15 signatures so Republicans will not have a choice in the primary, while they mysteriously find more Rick Santorum signatures after they originally said he did not have enough qualified signatures????
Something smells and it becomes more offensive and disgusting having Mitch Roob involved.
