Glenda Ritz launches campaign with attack on Tony Bennett

John Gregg, the Democratic candidate for governor, helped launch the campaign of Glenda Ritz this morning.  She’s the Democrat running for state school Superintendent.

The two appeared outside the Statehouse for an announcement that relied heavily on criticism of incumbent Republican Tony Bennett.  “He stood by while the legislature cut $300 million from our education budget,” said Ritz, “funding that our children deserved.”

“Glenda’s been an educator for 33 years,” said Gregg.  “She knows the best ideas don’t come out of this building right here behind me.”

Ritz teaches third grade at Crooked Creek School in Washington Township.

I knew Glenda Ritz when I was an elected Washington Township School Board member and she was the local Teachers’ Union chief contract negotiator. She is an important ISTA union officer and an ardent supporter of its agenda. If elected, she will attempt to roll-back the Bennett-Daniels-Bosma educational changes

I have known Glenda Ritz for over 30 years and know that she has the interest of children at the top of her agenda. She also will move public education forward unlike the current state superintendent who has neglected the 90% of Indiana’s children who attend public schools. She knows that the data on public schools for the last 21 years has shown steady and positive progress in every measurable category. We should all work to ensure that she replaces Tony Bennett.

Greg- What education changes did Bennett-Daniels-Bosma make that you support?
Daniels- stealing money from teacher retirement? Look I found money!!
Bennett- removing the Public Education part of his title and suppling money to his WIFE that is in charge of charter schools?
Bosma- Do you know the difference between charter schools and public schools? public schools teach EVERYONE. Public schools have LICENSED TEACHERS. Public schools do not make a PROFIT. Can you spell kick back??

Where do the charter schools rank on the ISTEP scores?????
