Friday Heat – Storm Chances

June 28th, 2012 at 10:43 pm by under Weather

Heat is the big story for Friday, with an excessive heat warning in effect until 8pm.  High temperatures will be near 100 degrees on Friday afternoon.  Heat index values will near 110º.  Take precautions from the heat and watch your friends, family and pets.  The heat will linger into the weekend with highs in the range of 95-100 degrees Saturday and Sunday.

A couple of storms moved across northern Indiana Thursday night.  The weather system triggering those storms will be close enough for a storm or 2 Friday – Sunday.  This won’t be the widespread rain we need to get rid of the severe drought, but at least there is a chance for rain.  Indianapolis is on pace to be the driest June on record, with only .05″ this month.  The driest is .36″ in June of 1988.
