John Gregg offers infrastructure plan

John Gregg has a plan to build new roads and bridges.  The Democratic candidate for governor said Thursday that, if elected, he will ask the General Assembly to free up a portion of the Next Generation Trust fund.    That fund was created in 2006 using toll road money and is designed so that proceeds will go to maintain projects completed with the Major Moves money that also came from the lease of the Indiana Toll Road.

Gregg says the money is needed now to preserve the state budget.  “We are not touching that surplus,” he said.  “We are leveraging dollars at a 10-to-1 ratio which is done all the time where we can take 300 million and leverage 3 billion dollars which, according to the Federal Highway Administration can create jobs, up to 97,000 men and women in construction jobs.”

Gregg also wants to see the state move forward with university construction projects.
