Back to the DebateOctober 5th, 2012 at 9:41 am by Jim Shella under Jim Shella's Political Blog
Those of you who follow me on Twitter may have noticed a tweet I sent out immediately following the Presidential debate suggesting that there was no clear winner.
In the time since I’ve been accused of being blind, biased, and former NFL replacement referee (to be sure, others agreed with me.) My snap judgement was based on the fact that Romney is the challenger and it was my belief that he needed a knockout punch. He did not have one. Those of you who saw all my tweets are aware, however, that I gave Romney high marks as the debate was in progress saying that he was “well-prepared. Stays on the offensive.” I shared my view that Obama, in turn, sounded defensive. “Not good,” I tweeted. I said that Romney’s close “was more smootly delivered.”
I saw what everyone else saw. And in the hours and days that have followed it’s clear that both sides and the public believe that Mitt Romney appeared Presidential. That’s was his goal.
For the record, I was wrong. Romney won.
