Current temperatures across central Indiana are sitting in the upper 20s and lower 30s with wind chills making it feel a few degrees cooler. Temperatures will stay in the 20s throughout the evening, along with partly cloudy skies and a light breeze. Overall, it will be a very pleasant evening for those with plans tonight! Lows tonight across the region will be chilly in the upper teens and lower 20s.
Central Indiana will have a chilly start tomorrow with mostly cloudy skies, but precipitation will be enter our area by the early afternoon. The temperatures will gradually warm up slightly above freezing, making freezing rain likely during the afternoon hours.
By 10 AM, Forecast 8 Futurecast shows the freezing rain starting to move into Terre Haute. During the morning hours would be the best time to travel tomorrow because by 1 PM, the freezing rain will enter central Indiana. Roadways may be slick if you decide to travel tomorrow afternoon and evening. Ice accumulation up to a tenth of an inch is possible and even two-tenths of an inch in northern locations. Around 8 PM, the freezing rain should start to transition into scattered rain showers.
A Winter Weather Advisory will go into effect for some northern counties in our viewing area, 3 pm Sunday until Midnight. The scattered rain showers will stick around for the beginning of the week, but warmer temperatures are on the way! Those warmer temps will arrive during the overnight hours on Sunday and will continue to increase for a couple of days. By Tuesday, highs will reach around 60 degrees in central Indiana. Cold air once again returns later this week.
