Latest on Timing, Amounts of SnowMarch 4th, 2013 at 5:37 pm by Ken Brewer under Weather
WINTER STORM WARNING LATEST: The Winter Storm Warning basically includes most areas east and north of Indianapolis. These are the locations where we could see 5″-10″ of snow beginning Tuesday afternoon and lasting through Wednesday night.
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: Marion County, places west, south, and far southeast overall will see lighter totals, so a Winter Weather Advisory is in place there.
THIS EVENING: There will be a light wintry mix that will take place. More scattered light rain will be in place from Indy south, and a mix of sleet, snow and rain areas north and east of Indy. Temperatures should stay above freezing near the ground, so any snow will melt a bit even in the northern areas.
MORNING COMMUTE: There may be a light wintry mix tomorrow morning as temps will hover around the freezing mark. Watch for patchy slick spots, but the bulk of the winter weather will arrive late in the day.
REST OF TUESDAY: Wintry mix will continue through early afternoon, then as colder air arrives, heavy bands of snow will develop by late afternoon and evening. The evening commute could be dicey.
SNOW TOTALS: The heaviest snow will be to the north, then go lighter as you go farther south. Here is a map of the totals.
8-DAY FORECAST: Temps will warm up in a hurry for the rest of the week and reach the 50s for the weekend.
