Congressman Todd Young calls shutdown “flawed strategy”October 17th, 2013 at 11:57 am by Jim Shella under Jim Shella's Political Blog
Three Indiana Republicans voted for the deal that ended the government shutdown. They are Congressman Todd Young, Congresswoman Susan Brooks, and Senator Dan Coats.
Young took part in a movement called No Labels that encouraged a bi-partisan solution. I met him at the Indianapolis International Airport when he returned to Indiana Thursday morning and asked if the shutdown was a failed strategy.
“It was. It was,” Young said. “It was a strategy that led us ultimately to a sub-optimal piece of legislation, one that I would have preferred not have hit the floor in the first place but many of us said it was a flawed strategy from the beginning.”
Democratic Senator Joe Donnelly is also being given credit for working across the aisle to help end the government shutdown.
