Rain continues, snow may mix in overnightOctober 22nd, 2013 at 8:52 pm by Robb Ellis under Weather
Light rain will continue off and on throughout the overnight hours. Temperatures continue to hold in the 30s and 40s, but a drop in temperatures will occur as the Alberta clipper moves past.
Some of the latest models have hinted at some light accumulation by early morning for parts of central Indiana, but there are many things working against that scenario. For one, temperatures (while below-average) were well above freezing today, and overall soil temperatures remain mild. Second, by the time the temperatures cool, most of the moisture may be used up.
While some locations, if they saw snow would likely only see light accumulation on elevated and grassy surfaces, the forecast currently calls for the transition to snow as the system exits in the early morning, with little to no accumulation.
There are a few areas of heavier precipitation moving through central Illinois, which may track through central Indiana. Some areas of heavier precip would have a better chance at producing snow. But at this time, not a single site there is reporting anything other than rain.
