Winter Storm Latest: What We have Now, What We See Today

WHAT HAS HAPPENED SO FAR:  Round 1 began yesterday afternoon and lasted overnight.  That round saw more snow in western and central Indiana.  Lighter totals fell in southern and southeastern Indiana.  The reason for that is that those locations saw more sleet and freezing rain. Here is a map of snow totals so far.

REST OF TODAY:  Another big wave of energy is developing as we speak to our SW and is building NW.  The tough part of this forecast will be 2 things.

  • How far north does wave #2 reach?
  • Does Wave #2 produce heavy snow or mix in southern Indiana?

Here is a breakdown of what the weather will look like for the rest of today.  We are going to stick with the snow total forecast.  If we miss in some locations, areas to the north will be the most difficult to verify those totals, but it is too hard to say exactly where that sharp cut-off will set up.
