Latest on Winter Weather System TodayDecember 8th, 2013 at 7:11 am by Ken Brewer under Weather
OVERVIEW: This system will not be as potent as Friday’s system, however, we could see some very light snow, and maybe some freezing drizzle mixing in late this afternoon and this evening. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for extreme eastern and southeastern parts of our area until 4am Monday.
TODAY: We are seeing scattered flurries and a few snow showers. They will continue to race North. There may be a dusting or several tenths of an inch in locations. Scattered snow showers will continue through the afternoon. As warmer air continues to lift up from the north, we could see some freezing drizzle mix in with some of the flurries and snow showers. SE Indiana could see some sleet and freezing rain (this is why they have the advisory in those locations.) Temps will climb into the mid to upper 20s by late afternoon.
THIS EVENING: Scattered mix of light snow and freezing drizzle will continue. Activity should wind down after midnight. Snow totals in most places should be 1″ or less. There may be 1″-2″ snow totals in SE Indiana. There may also be some ice accumulations in SE Indiana as well.
OVERNIGHT: Lows will only drop into the mid 20s and precip should move out.
MONDAY: It should be a quiet day, with highs in the upper 20s.
8-DAY FORECAST: Temps will stay chilly for most of the work week. There could be a few flurries Tuesday, otherwise the next chance of a wintry mix could happen next Saturday.
