Cold air stays….snow possibleDecember 9th, 2013 at 6:51 pm by Robb Ellis under Weather
Want even colder temperatures? Cold air will stick around all week, with the coldest air of the season expected by Thursday morning. There will also be a few snow chances this week. Two systems will bring snow chances to both north and south Indiana.
A weak system will roll through southern Indiana tonight and bring minor accumulation to southern parts of central Indiana (Bloomington, Columbus, Seymour). Up to an inch could be possible. For the metro Indy area, flurries are possible with up to a dusting possible on the far south side. Overnight lows will be in the 10s.
A few flurries may linger into early morning, but should clear out quickly. Sunshine is expected but strong northwest winds will be blustery during the day. Temperatures will stay in the 20s through the afternoon.
Another weak system brings a chance for flurries to the metro area, but northern Indiana will see light snow with 1 to 2 inches of accumulation. Highs temperatures continue in the mid 20s. With clearing expected late Wednesday night, temperatures will drop into the single digits. Low near 5 degrees.
Thursday through Friday:
Continued cold but a little more sunshine. High temperatures in the upper 20s and low 30s. Lows in the 10s.
Saturday and Sunday:
We’ll watch a system approaching Saturday for the next chance for accumulating snow. It appears it may snow lightly most of the day and continue into early Sunday morning. However, accumulation is possible. Highs near freezing with lows in the 20s. Skies will clear slowly for Sunday afternoon.
