Near Zero This MorningDecember 12th, 2013 at 5:46 am by Pamela Gardner under Weather
Temperatures are unbearably cold as we approach daybreak. Indianapolis has clicked down to 3º. With the wind chill factored in it feels like -5 to -15º. The last time we were this cold was February 10, 2011 with a temp of -1º. The record for this date is -7º set in 1962.
Highs today reach the upper teens and lower 20s with more sunshine. Lows tonight dip into the lower teens for everyone. Friday’s temps increase a bit to the upper 20s and lower 30s. The clouds increase Friday afternoon and late Friday night into Saturday morning some snow moves in.
By Saturday morning 7am we expect 2″ to 3″ of snow for most of central Indiana. Saturday the snow continues off and on all day, adding additional accumulation. The grand total by Saturday night will be 3″ to 5″ of snow for most of central Indiana, with southern Indiana around 1″ to 3″ of snow (due to more ice and rain mixing in at first). Colder temps return Sunday with highs in the mid 20s and we will be dry.
