Weekend Flooding

Right now: A few showers are popping up around the state.  Otherwise, we have drizzle and cloudy skies.

Watch/Warning: A Flood Watch goes into effect tonight through Sunday morning for most of Indiana.  A River Flood Warning has been issued Sunday through Christmas week.  Rainfall totals will be between 2″ and 4″ through Sunday morning.

Severe Storms: Saturday afternoon/evening there is a slight risk for severe storms in southern Indiana.  Damaging wind and flooding are the biggest threats, with an isolated tornado possible.

Timing: This evening some light showers redevelop and move into the Hoosier state.  The rain becomes heavy at times overnight and into Saturday afternoon.  At that time some severe storms may push through southern Indiana.  The heavy showers remain for Saturday night and Sunday morning.  Sunday evening the rain changes to flurries.

Temperatures: Temperatures are in the upper 50s for most places.  Temps fall to the lower 40s and upper 30s tonight…but everyone stays above that freezing mark.  Temps fall to the mid 40s for Saturday.  On Sunday afternoon the colder air filters in.  Temps fall to the 30s by late Sunday afternoon.

Extended Forecast: Colder temps take over for Christmas week.  It will be dry through Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  Our next chance for snow is Thursday.
