Warmer days ahead, if only briefly

Would you like some warmer temperatures for a change? It appears a gradual warm-up is in our forecast through Saturday. But cold air will return by next week, as we begin 2014.

Mostly cloudy with a few flurries. A few snow showers could be possible in northern central Indiana. Overnight lows will drop into the low to mid 20s.

Thursday:
Mostly cloudy and slightly warmer. Highs in the mid 30s. Overnight lows in the low 20s.

Next 3 days

Friday:
Mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 30s. Lows in the mid 20s.

Saturday:
Much warmer with highs in the mid 40s. Partly cloudy skies. Overnight lows will be warmer as well, with lows in the upper 20s.

Sunday:
Much colder air returns. A chance of snow showers with highs near freezing. Lows near 10 degrees.

Next week:
Cold air surges in and daytime highs will struggle to reach the 20s with single digit overnight lows. A few snow chances are expected for the middle of the week.
