Colder Temps Take Over

December 29th, 2013 at 5:45 pm by under Weather

Freezing drizzle is possible this evening and overnight for all of Indiana.  Northwestern Indiana has a freezing rain advisory until 8pm.  That freezing precipitation could set down a glaze of ice over any outdoor surface and could make the roads icy. Some flurries are in the forecast tonight too.  We dry out Monday afternoon but the clouds hang around.

A wind is picking up from the northwest and it’s really helping to usher in colder air.  Temps have fallen into the upper 20s and lower 30s.  With the wind it feels like the upper teens and 20s.

We are running between 10 and 20 degrees colder than this time yesterday.  Evening temps drop into the 20s.

Lows tonight dip into the teens, but with a strong gusty wind it will feel like zero.  Highs on Monday top out in the low to mid 20s.

The cold continues through the whole week.  Highs only reach the 20s and lows fall to the teens.  Snow chances return for New Year’s Eve with a chance for flurries.  Snow showers are possible on New Year’s Day, on Thursday and on Friday.  The track of this system is still uncertain but we could get some accumulation out of it.  Stay tuned.
