Light Snow Then Warming TempsJanuary 9th, 2014 at 7:06 am by Pamela Gardner under Weather
Light snow showers are moving through southern Indiana now. The snow shield is lifting northeast this morning. Light snow continues to fall this afternoon and early evening. We could see a dusting to a half inch of accumulation.
Temperatures start out in the teens and slowly warm all day. Highs reach the lower 30s for most! That will help melt some of the top layer of snow. Lows tonight fall into the upper 20s.
A brief period of freezing rain is possible this evening as temps rise to around freezing. A wintry mix continues to be in our forecast for Friday. Friday’s highs reach the lower 40s. Heavy rain is possible Friday night into daybreak Saturday. Rainfall accumulation of .5″ to 1.5″ of rain is likely. This, combined with the snow melt, will lead to street flooding and minor river flooding.
Temps this weekend stay in the lower 40s both days. The rain moves out Saturday. Clouds remain for Sunday but we will be dry. Temps stay mild for the beginning of next week.
