Marlin Stutzman picked to deliver Weekly GOP AddressJanuary 17th, 2014 at 2:55 pm by Jim Shella under Jim Shella's Political Blog
Indiana Congressman Marlin Stutzman (R-3rd District) will deliver the Weekly GOP Address Saturday. This will be the 8th Weekly GOP Address delivered by an Indiana politician in less than a year.
Rep. Stutzman is a frequent critic of President Obama and Senate leadership. In the weekly address Stutzman will talk about jobs bills stuck in the Senate.
Meantime, when Congresswoman Susan Brooks delivered the GOP address last February it was something considered out of the ordinary for an Indiana Republican.
Then the opportunity fell to other Hoosiers in Congress, Jackie Walorski and Luke Messer. Todd Young got to do it twice and Senator Dan Coats was called upon.
The governor got an opportunity, too.
State GOP Chairman Tim Berry thinks the exposure is good for Indiana but it’s also good the politicians. “Well, I think this helps Marlin Stutzman in developing his message,” he said.
The exact nature of that message will be made public Saturday.
Maybe the best way to demonstrate the unusual nature of all this, however, is to point out that just two members of the Indiana GOP delegation to Congress have missed out on an opportunity to deliver the Weekly GOP Address in the last year.
They are Todd Rokita Larry Bucshon.
