Milder Weather Today, Stormy Thursday?February 18th, 2014 at 5:05 am by Ken Brewer under Weather
TODAY: After the wintry mix we saw Monday, milder air has moved into the region. We stayed near or above freezing overnight, and that will be the launching point for milder air that will bump up temps for the next few days. So for today, highs will reach the 40s! It will be windy, so it may not feel quite as mild as what it will seem. However, it be much better than recent days!
THIS EVENING: Temps will stay mild this evening. It will start in the 40s, then fall into the mid 30s by midnight.
OVERNIGHT: The mild weather will continue as lows will only drop to around freezing.
WEDNESDAY: The warming trend will continue Wednesday, and so will the melting. Highs will reach the mid 40s, with a decent amount of sunshine.
SEVERE WEATHER POTENTIAL / FLOODING POSSIBLE THURSDAY: A strong storm system will barrel into the region Thursday. There will be a lot of energy and a lot of moisture with the system, so there is a potential for some strong to severe thunderstorms with damaging wind, and maybe the threat of a tornado. The combination of snow melt and heavy rain could lead to flooding problems.
8-DAY FORECAST: After Thursday, temps will go down a bit Friday, then colder air will return for the weekend. There is a chance of snow on Sunday and again on Tuesday. The Sunday system does not look very impressive so far. Highs will drop back to the 20s by the middle of next week.
