State lawmakers have gone home for the year.

The governor praised the 2014 General Assembly Friday morning saying that it made remarkable accomplishments.

One of those accomplishments is the passage of a mass transit bill for Central Indiana.

Mike Pence told me that he is not ready to sign it into law.

“Jim, I have an open mind about it,” he said.  “Now that that bill is headed to my desk we’re gonna take some time to evaluate, to listen to arguments on both sides of it, to look at the economics of it.”

The governor said he understands the value of mass transit, in part, because his grandfather was a bus driver in Chicago.

He also said that the elimination of a corporate tax and a ban on light rail were positive improvements in the bill from his point of view.
