SEVERE WEATHER THREAT TODAY: Nearly all of central Indiana is under a slight risk of severe thunderstorms for later today.
THREATS: Damaging Wind, and Large Hail are the biggest threats with an isolated chance of a tornado spin-up, but hail and win are the biggest threats right now. The higher threats look to be just east and south of Indianapolis, but that could change quickly.
TIMING: There have been some thunderstorm complexes overnight and this morning across northern Indiana. So far, there has been a “lid” on the atmosphere to keep storms from erupting in central Indiana. That lid will go away as we get daytime heating, and then as pop-up storms form, they will punch a hole in the lid, and then multiple storms should form after that. This should start to take place by early to mid-afternoon and could last through early evening.
STAY WITH FORECAST 8: We will cut-in to programming as needed for warnings today, have updates here on the Blog, Facebook, and Twitter.
