Westbound I-70 Work Zone Traffic Shifting
Eastbound Lane Restriction for Concrete Patching
HANCOCK COUNTY – Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plan to shift the right lane of westbound Interstate 70 in the construction zone between State Road 9 (Exit 104 to Greenfield) and Mt. Comfort Road (Exit 96).
Milestone Contractors will close the right lane of westbound I-70 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday. Crews will move barrier wall and restripe the roadway west of the Buck Creek bridge to shift the lane onto the right shoulder. The lane configuration east of the Buck Creek bridge will remain in the current position.
During Saturday’s lane restriction, all westbound traffic will be placed in the left lane, which is diverted across the median to share the eastbound side of the interstate. Concrete barrier wall separates opposing directions of traffic.
Beginning Friday at 9 p.m., crews plan to restrict the right lane of eastbound I-70 approaching State Road 9 (Greenfield Exit 104) for concrete patching. The restriction will remain in place until approximately 2 p.m. Sunday to allow new concrete time to cure.
Drivers are advised to practice safe habits, especially in highway work zones. INDOT partners with the Indiana State Police to provide increased work zones patrols and promote public safety. Motorists are urged to always comply with work zone speed limits, maintain safe distances from other vehicles and avoid distractions to improve safety for both highway workers and motorists.
