EAST CENTRAL INDIANA – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) reminds motorists to be alert for lane restrictions and crews working on Interstate 70 this weekend. Always practice safe driving habits in work zones. Follow speed limits, maintain safe distances from other vehicles and avoid all distractions—including cell phones. Expect work zone restrictions and potential delays on I-70 in the following areas:
The westbound I-70 ramp to southbound I-465 on the east side of Indianapolis will be closed beginning Friday at 9 p.m. until Monday at 6 a.m.
The right lane of westbound I-70 from State Road 9 (Exit 104) to mile marker 101 will be closed beginning Sunday at 9 p.m. until Monday at 6 a.m.
The left lane of westbound I-70 is diverted across the median between State Road 9 (Exit 104 to Greenfield) and Mt. Comfort Road (Exit 96). Eastbound and westbound lanes are shifted.
The right lane of westbound I-70 between State Road 3 (New Castle Exit 123) and State Road 109 (Knightstown Exit 115) will be closed beginning Friday at 8 p.m. until Sunday at 2 p.m.
The right lane of eastbound I-70 and the loop ramp to northbound U.S. 35/Williamsburg Pike (Exit 149 B) will be closed beginning Friday at 9 p.m. until Monday at 6 a.m.
The right lane of eastbound I-70 east of U.S. 27/Chester Boulevard (Exit 151) will be closed beginning Friday at 8 p.m. until Sunday at 2 p.m.
Recurring weeknight and weekend lane restrictions should be expected in these areas as contractors make pavement repairs. For more information on INDOT work zones, highway restrictions and traffic conditions, go to TrafficWise.in.gov or call toll-free 800-261-ROAD (7623).
The Indiana Work Zone Safety Law sets steep penalties for driving infractions in highway work zones. INDOT partners with the Indiana State Police to provide increased patrols and promote public safety in work zones.
