Plainfield Tornado Ranked As EF-1

The National Weather Service confirms an EF-1 tornado moved through Plainfield on Tuesday.  The path was approximately 2 miles long as it was on the ground for 8 minutes.  Estimated wind speeds were between 90 mph and 100 mph.

The tornado initially touched down near Perry Rd. and US 40 at 2:32 pm.  It continued northeast and damaged over 200 cars due to flying debris.  Some structural damage to Adesa Auto Auction.

Damage was reported on County Rd 200 where a camper was thrown into a house.  Estimated wind speeds between 95 mph and 100 mph.

Damage was reported to the northeast at Raceway Rd. at Blue Pine Dr.  This is where the most significant damage occurred with estimated wind speeds of 97 mph.  The tornado then lifted at 2:40pm at that location.

Straight-line wind damage affected up to 100 homes around I-465, Rockville Rd., and Speedway.
