Tracking Severe Thunderstorm Chances TodayJuly 13th, 2014 at 6:25 am by Ken Brewer under Weather
OVERVIEW: After a day yesterday where the weather did not behave as expected, more unsettled weather is possible today.
SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE STORMS: If you draw a line from Terre Haute – Indianapolis – Muncie, then go all places south of that line, that is where we could see some severe thunderstorms develop later today, mainly in th4e afternoon and evening hours. Damaging Wind Appears to be the main threat with a lesser chance of some large hail.
BREAKDOWN OF TODAY: The line of rain and storms from overnight and early morning will try to drift south, but may lose steam as it does so. Nevertheless, we could see a line of rain and some thunderstorms this morning. Additional clusters of thunderstorms are expected to develop, especially south of I-70 this afternoon. In the meantime, it will be humid, and highs will approach the low to mid 80s.
THIS EVENING: Spotty showers and thunderstorms are still possible this evening. Temps will drop into the 70s, and it will still feel humid.
MONDAY: The morning commute will see temps in the mid to upper 60s, then we will climb to around 80 degrees in the afternoon. Another round of scattered showers and storms could pop-up late in the afternoon and evening. The severe weather threat should move away from us to our south.
8-DAY FORECAST: Near-record cool temps will arrive Tuesday and Wednesday, as highs will struggle to reach the low 70s! Temps will slowly go back up to the low 80s by next weekend.
