Our entire viewing area is in a slight risk for severe thunderstorms today. Hazards include damaging winds, heavy rain, flooding in some areas, lightning, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. Brickyard 400 may be interrupted here and there as thunderstorms pop up throughout the day. VIPIR radar is showing our viewing area to be mostly clear at the moment except a few light showers north of Muncie Indiana. High temps are in the mid 80s. We'll keep you updated here at WISH. AT 1215 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATES THAT UP TO THREE INCHES OF RAINFALL HAS FALLEN THIS MORNING ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO ANY RAINFALL THAT WAS RECEIVED WITH STORMS LAST NIGHT. RAINFALL HAS CURRENTLY ENDED ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. HOWEVER...ADDITIONAL STORMS ARE POSSIBLE LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING TO OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE...SEYMOUR... BROWNSTOWN...NORTH VERNON AND VERNON. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. There is a tornado watch in effect for central Kentucky, east Tennessee, and southwest Virginia until 8 pm. These areas are in a slight risk for severe weather today also- just to give a perspective.
