Tropical Storm BerthaAugust 1st, 2014 at 6:27 am by Pamela Gardner under Weather
Tropical Storm Bertha is just north of the South American coast in the Atlantic. Sustained winds are 45 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. It is moving west northwest at 20 mph. The storm is not expected to strengthen much today as there is shear keeping it a tropical storm. Some global models hint that the shear could decrease as Bertha moves into the northeastern Caribbean. That could allow for slight intensification in 24 to 36 hours. After that time frame there is too much uncertainty.
Tropical storm warnings have been posted for many popular tourist islands…including: Barbados, St. Lucia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
