Joe Hogsett is putting together a campaign for mayor.

Hogsett said he will file the paperwork to create an exploratory committee either this week or next.  The Democrat who stepped down as U.S. Attorney last week revealed his plans first in an 24 Hour News 8 interview this morning.

Hogsett conducted the interview at the downtown law firm of Bose, McKinney and Evans where he is now a partner.  He is not ready to announce his candidacy yet, but already has plans to hire a campaign manager.  It will be Thomas Cook, an experienced Democratic operative who worked for Hogsett in the U.S. Attorney’s office.
