A round of storms late Tuesday evening brought heavy rain, lightning, gusty winds and even small hail to parts of central Indiana on Tuesday.
Several thunderstorms popped during the late afternoon and continued into the evening, starting lightning fires and prompting some flood advisories near Lafayette.
As a line of storms became more developed late Tuesday night, gusty winds brought a myriad of severe thunderstorm warnings from Indy through the remainder of eastern and southern Indiana.
Gusts of 55 mph were reported at IND airport as the storms rushed by. Power outages approached 5,000 customers at the height of the storms. Some small limbs were also reported downed in Avon.
Wednesday will bring a break from strong storms, but rain chances ramp up by Thursday and Friday.
