You know you’ve been spending too much time in the Statehouse when you can hold a conversation using state government acronyms without hesistation.   For those of you who pass through the Capitol on an occassional basis here is a government to English translation guide:

TIF-Tax incremental financing

COIT-County option income tax

LOIT-Local option income tax (not the same as COIT)

CAGIT-County adjusted gross income tax (not the same as COIT or LOIT)

PTRC-Property tax replacement credit

HB 1001-The governor’s property tax plan

SJR 7-Ban on gay marriage

LSA-Legislative Services Agency

Just refer to this guide the next time you hear someone say, “LSA reports the effect of HB1001 on LOIT varies in COIT and CAGIT counties and the level of PTRC’s is sometimes dependent on the number of TIF districts.”

Or, you could just gloss over and walk away.
