Snow on the way, mix as well…

January 5th, 2014 at 4:34 am by under Weather

Warm air is intruding on the southern side of this storm system and that means the southern half of Central Indiana is starting with a bit of a mix of rain and sleet. Northwestern Indiana has been seeing most of the snow so far today. The snow will build in through the morning, reports of flakes reaching Morgan Co. right now but drier air keeping it away so far. Expecting snow to begin in Indy area by 6-7 am and pick up in intensity to 1″-2″ per hour at times. Greatest accumulations will take place 7am-7pm. Totals of 8″-12″ still likely from along I-70 and northward…lower totals in the 4″-8″ range south of the I-70 corridor.

Forecast 8 Vipir Radar shows that area of snow retreating to the northeast, but don’t be fooled – there’s plenty more to come. The heaviest snowfall will arrive this evening.
