Skies are overcast as a weak cold front is moving into the Hoosier State. Temperatures right now are mild and most of this week will be comfortable:
The front that’s moving in will bring a chance of rain in for Tuesday, but just a few scattered showers:
By Wednesday, Veteran’s Day, the front will be out of the state and so will the rain and plenty of sunshine will be around to make it feel a bit warmer even though the temperatures are a bit cooler:
The front that’s moving through the area the next couple of days is being slowed by a tropical storm in the gulf. Ida has winds of 70 mph which is just below hurricane status. On VIPIR we can show some of the off shore bouy data and we have one device indicating 63 mph. Rains are pouring down along the coast and heavy rain is thought to be the biggest threat.
The storm will make landfall early Tuesday Morning.
Light showers are moving through the area, mainly south right now. More rain to the south will move across the area tonight:
Rain is coming down across most of the area and a Flood Watch is in effect. Much more rain is to our west and that will drive in today and tonight.
Temps are comfortable, especially if you are out in the blazing sunshine today!
Clouds are to our northwest and those will move in along with rain by tomorrow…more to come!
A little sunshine is mixing in with quite a bit of cloud cover this afternoon. Temperatures are very cool:
And lows tonight are going to be very chilly!
Clouds starting to move in to the southern part of the area…showers well south:
Rain chances for Sunday!
After the fog we have seen some clouds develop mixed in with some sunshine.
At Noon, temperatures are mild:
Highs today will warm to around 80.
The dense fog advisory for most of Central Indiana has been extended until 11AM:
Some of our camera locations show the varying density of the fog, but visibilities are at zero in some areas, including Indianapolis:
The fog will slowly burn off through the morning…still a chance of a shower later today.
The upper level flow is well north of us, so the storm system that’s been effecting us the last couple of days is going to stick around…it’s cut-off from the flow.
So that means showers chances through tomorrow, but they are mainly sun driven, so notice in these images from Futurecast 8 that they mainly pop up in the afternoon and evening:
The cut-off lows will drift slightly south and east of us Thursday and Friday so the showers here will be limited to maybe just a couple.
One concern again tomorrow morning is the fog! It was dense in some areas this morning, bringing down visibilities to near zero.
Temperatures raight now have only elevated into the 70s, tomorrow they may warm just a bit:
Tune in for 24 Hour News 8 for the latest on VIPIR.
