Forecast 8 Vipir Radar shows that area of snow retreating to the northeast, but don’t be fooled – there’s plenty more to come. The heaviest snowfall will arrive this evening.

Snow Downtown Indy, also stretching east and north. Only minor accumulations so far. The larger part of this storm is still in Missouri, and will be here with the heaviest snow this afternoon and overnight.

Temperatures have dropped into the low to mid 30s. Lows tonight will drop to around 30.  Rain is still a state away but will push into southern Indiana by the morning. Rain should reach Indy by mid to late morning.

High temperatures today elevated into the mid to upper 40s and some areas even up to 50. The warming trend will continue into the Weekend with highs both Friday and Saturday up to 60º.

Right Now:

Temperatures have dropped just a bit into the low to mid 40s.

A few clouds have pushed into the area and more will arrive this evening. The rain is pouring across the southern states but that system is coming our way.

Tonight:

Increasing clouds and mild, lows will only drop to around 30.

Thursday:

Rain will come down from the late morning through the entire day. T-storms are possible through Friday morning with rain totals as much as an inch or more.

Extended:

Rain will return late Saturday through Sunday and cooler air moves in for next week—even snow chances return!

Rain is driving northeast but it is going to run into high pressure which should keep it mainly in southern Indiana tonight through Wednesday. We will get some of the cloud cover and that along with a warmer flow from the south will keep temperatures mild Tonight; around 30º.

Temperature this afternoon elevated into the 40s…Tonight lows will drop to around freezing.

High temperatures Wednesday will elevate to the upper 40s to around 50º.

Tonight we will see a few clouds drive in, but they will only stick around through the morning Wednesday. Skies will fill back in with clouds Wednesday Night then Thursday rain moves in and even a few t-storms.

Rain will end by mid-day Friday and the result could be up to an inch of rain.

Heavy snow has already added up to as much as 4″ in a narrow band across Central Indiana. Winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings have been shifted northward to compensate…they are in effect until 7am Saturday morning.

Snow is picking up in intensity. Still looking at 1″-3″ with southern areas as much as 4″.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Southern and East Central Indiana from 7pm Tonight until 7am Saturday. A storm system moving up from the southwest will bring at least 2-3 inches of snow into the heart of Central Indiana and as much as 4 inches south. A system to the south and another to the northwest are expected to merge across Indiana on Friday…at least according to some computer models. Some other models have the southern system staying to our south which would limit the intensity and moisture available to produce snow. The snow at most will be a half inch to an inch and a half with a few spots picking up 2″. If that southern system stays south it may limit things even more…we’ll keep you up to date!
