Forecast highs are in the upper 40s and lower 50s on Wednesday and Thursday.  The Forecast 8 team will track the center of the area of low pressure into central Indiana late Wednesday and early Thursday.  The heaviest rain is east of the low, so our rain chances will begin to taper off.

A drier and milder weather pattern arrives for Friday and the weekend.

Afternoon Update

November 17th, 2009 at 2:29 pm by Angela Buchman under Weather

Most of the area is getting a break from the steady rain.  There are a few patches of rain east and southeast of Indianapolis.  Right now the rain is falling across parts of Rush county moving northwest toward Shelbyville.  There is another round of rain coming out of Cincinnati.  This will move over Greensburg, Connersville and Richmond.

7:00 am Radar Update

Rain continues and it will soon include most of the viewing area.  Heavier rain is still west and south of Indy, but that may change over the next hour or 2.

Soggy for Some Again

November 17th, 2009 at 4:56 am by Ken Brewer under Weather

BUS STOP THIS MORNING: A conveyor belt of rain has formed in the western half of the state.  The rain is rotating from south to north, so these areas will see significant doses of rain.  Areas east of Indy may be okay at the bus stop this morning.

REST OF TODAY: Like a broken record, an upper-level low is stalled out to our west. It is sending waves of rain, and so far most of that rain has been in western parts of the viewing area.  That looks to stay the same for the most part today.  Western Indiana will see the brunt of the rain again today.  Highs will hit the low to mid 50’s.

Micro_1 Micro_2 Daypart

TONIGHT: Not much change to the pattern.  Some areas will still see rain, others will be drier.  Lows will dip into the low 40’s.

WEDNESDAY: More of the same, though the core of the rain may slide a bit east.  The nature of these systems is that there are pockets of steady, heavy rain, then there are dry slots in other spots.  Figuring out where those set up is difficult.  So bottom line…take rain gear and hope you see a dry slot.  Highs will struggle to hit the lower 50’s.

Heavy Rain Stays West For Now

November 16th, 2009 at 10:29 pm by Angela Buchman under Weather

Right now the heavy rain is falling across southern and western Illinois and eastern Missouri.  The center of this developing storm system will spin to our west through mid-week.  An area of high pressure will build across the northeast and keep the rain producing low close enough for rain chances.

Clouds And Showers

Forecast 8 is tracking an area of low pressure that will continue to bring rain chances to the area through mid-week.  There will be clouds this evening and overnight, along with a few showers.  Right now the heaviest rain will fall just to our west.

As high pressure builds across the northeastern part of the county, the area of low pressure will get stuck and the chance for rain will linger into mid-week.
