Winds are still strong, but will continue to slowly weaken over the course of the afternoon. Colts tailgating will feature temperatures in the mid 30’s, but with the wind, it will feel like the upper 20’s.

Most of the wind advisory expired at 7am, but a few counties in eastern and northern parts of the viewing area have a wind advisory until 1pm

TODAY: As the powerful storm system moves way from the state, winds will slowly diminish throughout the day. Sunshine will return, and temperatures will hit the low to mid 40’s in most places this afternoon.

COLTS TAILGATE: Temperatures will be chilly, in the 30’s for most of the morning, and with the gusty winds, it will feel like the 20’s.

MONDAY: It should be a nice day, with warmer air returning. Highs should hit the upper 40’s.

SEVERE WEATHER POTENTIAL: Right now, there are tornado watches in effect extending from Oklahoma to eastern Illinois. That will be the location of the highest chances for severe weather today. Energy from the upper-levels of the atmosphere will slowly weaken as we go throughout the day, which will reduce our severe potential. However, this cold front will bring major changes in temperature, and the contrast will produce gusty winds. Bottom Line: We will see winds increase during the day up to 40-50 mph (there is a Wind Advisory that kicks in at 1pm), and some locally heavy rain late in the day.

REST OF TODAY: The aforementioned cold front will roll into the state later tonight. Before that happens, we could see record warmth for this date. The record high for today is 67 set back in 1959. Some places may reach or top that. Most of the rain will arrive late this afternoon into this evening.

SUNDAY: Winds will slowly decrease during the day, but it will still be windy. Colder air will arrive, and highs will only hit the upper 30’s to lower 40’s.

COLTS TAILGATE: The morning will feature quite a bit of wind and chilly air. Expect winds to blow around 20-30 miles per hour for most of the morning. It should be dry, and even see some peeks at sunshine by late morning.

ARCTIC AIR ARRIVES! A Wind Advisory is in effect until 7:00pm for all of central Indiana. In addition, temperatures will drop into the single digits through the day.

The weather will stay rough through the entire day. The good news is that other thanb a flurry or two, it should be a dry day.

TONIGHT: Winds will actually prevent lows from dropping below zero. It will still be plenty cold, with lows in the low single digits.

MONDAY: Cold air will linger, but winds will lighten up a bit. Highs will only hit the upper teens to around 20.

THIS MORNING: VIPIR shows light snow falling on radar, but all indications are that snow is not reaching the ground. The low levels of the atmosphere are pretty dry for the moment, so it may take a few hours to saturate the atmosphere enough for snow to reach the ground.

REST OF TODAY: A stalled out frontal boundary to the south will try to sneak back north. The atmosphere will start to moisten up from the top down, and eventually, precipitation will hit the ground. Another upper-level disturbance to our west will send some precipitation over northern parts of thre state. Right now, that looks to be the location of the heavy snow totals. Southern Indiana could see some heavier precipitation, but it may be more ice than snow.

WEDNESDAY: All activity should wind down, and just leave mainly cloudy skies in its wake. Highs will be chilly, and only top out around 30.

THIS MORNING: Moisture is gradually leaving the state, but colder air is moving in. The result is some drizzle mixing with some sleet and some flurries from time to time. We are keeping out eye on a last batch of moisture moving through eastern Missouri. This could be a light mix in southern Indiana later this morning. Most areas north and west of Indy should be quiet.

REST OF TODAY: Weather will gradually dry out, but colder air will slide in. Temperatures should stay pretty steady around the freezing mark of 32°.

THURSDAY: Expect another cool day, but we should see some sunshine. Highs will hit the mid to upper 30’s.

FRIDAY: A quick hitting weather system will slide through, and could squeeze out a few flurries. Highs will struggle to hit 30.

RECORD RAINFALL TUESDAY: We had pretty hefty rain Tuesday, and broke the record rainfall for the date. Most locations across central Indiana saw significant rainfall totals.

THIS MORNING: Temperatures are flirting with single digits acrosss most of the state, and in some places, wind chill values are below zero.

COLTS TAILGATE: Ouch! Bitter cold, and windchill will weed out the brave tailgaters this morning.

REST OF TODAY: We may see some sunshine early as a weak ridge of high pressure builds into the state. But by later this afternoon, clouds will start to build back in. We have an arctic airmass in place, so combine cold air, clouds, and some snow…highs will only hit the low to mid 20’s.

TONIGHT: A warm front will slide into the state overnight as part of the next weather system. With the cold air, almost any decent increase in moisture will mean snow, so we will put it in the forecast and this could have an impact on the morning commute.

MONDAY: The next weather maker will move towards the state. Most of the day should be dry, as somewhat milder air will slide in. Moisture will stream in by evening, and we could see a wintry mix begin by Monday night.

TUESDAY: A messy day, with a lot of question marks. The track of the storm system will be key. Right now it looks like a mix, mainly in the form of rain, but a lot can change, so stay tuned!
