Amid the glitz and the glamour at Invesco Field last night I found myself in line for a portable toilet behind Anderson Cooper. Before the CNN anchor could reach the front of the line he was asked to pose for photos with a number of ladies (young and old) who came by. He always complied with the request, though his expression indicated he would rather be somewhere else.

I tried to help out by twice offering to take the camera from a waiting political junkie and execute the photograph. One nice woman even complimented my photographic skills.

The 4 a.m. wake up call came quickly for a flight home that carried a number of Indiana delegates, including Sheila Klinker, whose photograph appeared on the front page of the Denver Post this morning.

Leaving Invesco Field last night required a two mile walk down streets and ramps that caused more than one delegate to compare the experience to the evacuation of New Orleans. An Indiana Democrat said it was no way to top off an emotional evening.

As for the Barack Obama speech, reviews back at the Indiana hotel were glowing. I was impressed that it contained few rhetorical flourishes and stuck mostly to policy issues.

I thought some of the enthusiasm escaped into the Denver night in that open air stadium but its all about television the images were captivating.
