The Seymour Post is currently receiving a steady heavy snow in the Jackson, Jennings and Bartholomew County area. Jackson and Jennings Counties are currently under a “Level 2 Emergency”. Bartholomew County has no stated level of emergency at this time. A “Level 2 Emergency” is as follows: Conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. Only essential travel is recommended (i.e. to and from work, emergency situations, etc.).

The majority of calls coming into the Indiana State Police Seymour Post are from citizens asking if they have to go to work today or not. The current level of emergency is not restricting travel to work. Citizens will have to use their own discretion as to weather or not they can make it to work.

If you have to get out use the following cautions when driving:

· Reduce your speed

· Be aware of sudden stops

· Be aware of hills and grades that will prevent forward movement if your vehicle comes to a complete stop

· Keep distance between vehicles

· Hang up cell phones, and drive with caution

· MOVE OVER, SLOW DOWN when approaching emergency vehicles

Since noon yesterday the Seymour Post has responded to five personal injury crashes, 24 slide-off calls, three abandoned vehicles and assisted 13 motorists.
