More Rain and Storms SE

August 4th, 2009 at 7:06 am by Ken Brewer under Weather

For areas like Bloomington and Columbus, Seymour, it has been an active morning.  Most of the large hail has calmed down a bit, but heavy rain could cause problems in those areas.  Rainfall totals are anywhere from 1″ to 3″ of rain.

Watch out for the rain to redevelop along those areas for the next several hours!

Change in Severe Storm Risk?

July 15th, 2009 at 9:10 am by Ken Brewer under Weather

The Storm Prediction Center has removed the entire state from the slight risk category.  Morning rain has essentially limited some of the severe weather ingredients, but that could change later today.

Current VIPIR imagery shows the swath of rain continuing to shrink in size, with the heaviest rains still south of Indy.  Rainfall totals have been spotty with the highest amounts around Brazil.

3:00pm Weather Update

July 11th, 2009 at 3:19 pm by Ken Brewer under Weather

Things have gotten a bit more complicated.  The surface front has slowed down a bit and is hung up around Lafayette, and the water content in the atmosphere remains high.  So as long as the front lingers, rain chances will hold on.  The really dry air is still around Chicago and is slow to drop south, so we will keep some rain chances in this evening, as the rain will slowly dry up this evening and overnight.  Rainfall totals have piled up along a narrow path with some places now over 1″ of rain since midnight.
