THIS MORNING: VIPIR shows light snow falling on radar, but all indications are that snow is not reaching the ground. The low levels of the atmosphere are pretty dry for the moment, so it may take a few hours to saturate the atmosphere enough for snow to reach the ground.

REST OF TODAY: A stalled out frontal boundary to the south will try to sneak back north. The atmosphere will start to moisten up from the top down, and eventually, precipitation will hit the ground. Another upper-level disturbance to our west will send some precipitation over northern parts of thre state. Right now, that looks to be the location of the heavy snow totals. Southern Indiana could see some heavier precipitation, but it may be more ice than snow.

WEDNESDAY: All activity should wind down, and just leave mainly cloudy skies in its wake. Highs will be chilly, and only top out around 30.

We are keeping an eye on the batch of moisture developing in southern Illinois. It has been growing and moving Northeast. Colder air is in place, so this has a good shot of being a mix, or snow. We will keep an eye on it for you for the rest of the day.

With the exception of a few northern counties, the Winter Weather Advisory has expired. The dry slot has arrived, and should linger most of the dame.

Sharpsville - 3.5″ snow has stopped…35 degrees, so some melting will begin. Most snow is confined to Madison, Delaware, and Grant counties. Those counties should see snow end soon.

Our weather watcher in Chesterfield reported more snow on the ground after some had melted earlier.
Alexandria - 2.5″ snowfall (should gradually melt after last wave ends).

We would love to hear from you. E-mail your snow totals or weather updates to weather@wishtv.com.
We will also have a live update on “Countdown to Kickoff” on WISH at 11:30.

There is still a Winter Weather Advisory until Noon for most of central Indiana, though most of the snow ill stop well before then, and in most cases melt by this afternoon.

SNOW TOTALS: Chesterfiled / Anderson: .5″
Atlanta: 1″-2″ not all staying accumulated
Lebanon: 1.5″
Zionsville: .5″
Carmel: .5″
THIS MORNING: A good dose of snow bursts mixed with some rain in places. Roads are slick in many areas. Expect some minor accumulations, then some melting, as temperatures are at or above freezing in most locations.

REST OF TODAY: Warmer southerly winds will move into central Indiana. This should allow for more rain to mix in and melt some of the snow that is falling this morning. A dry slot should move in later this afternoon and slow down activity. Accumulations should be 1″-3″ north and northwest of Indianapolis, 1″ or less in the metro area.

TONIGHT: Things should change to all snow as colder air arrives on the back side of this system. The heavy snow bands should set up NW of the city again and those places could have several inches of snow on the ground. The morning commute could be messy as we could see snow accumulating in Indianapolis.

MONDAY: Snow will continue, with some additional accumulations of up to several inches possible before winding down late tomorrow night.

We shouldn’t see much accumulation from the early burst of snow because the ground is still warm, however, pavement could be slick in untreated locations, and the falling snow will reduce visibility.

Here in Downtown and other parts of central Indiana, light snow is falling. Watch for some slick roads to develop over the next several hours if they are untreated.

It still looks like the higher snow totals will be northwest of Indianapolis and back out into Illinois, and that’s where the current winter weather advisories are in place.

If you have any accumulations, e-mail them to weather@wishtv.com and we will post them here.
