Lows tonight are going to be cool: Tropical storms and a mild Weekend!September 5, 2008 – 5:23 pmIt’s Hoosier Friday Night! And if you’re headed out to any football games or just out on the town, it’s going to be cool and the clouds will persist for a while: Tonight temperatures will fall into the 50s and highs tomorrow will climb to the 70s or low 80s: The clouds that will be with us this evening will start to break up later and Saturday will be nice: The clouds are from a slow moving front that moved through, but it will stall and take the weekend to move out of Ohio: Meanwhile Hanna will make its way up the east coast as a tropical storm. Right now: Landfall in South Carolina is anticipated tonight. And Ike may be a factor in Florida by early next week:
Back to our weather, the whole weekend will ge great: By Monday another cold front moves in and will bring some storms and more cool air will follow: A Wet Start This MorningSeptember 5, 2008 – 6:18 amCentral Indiana received some welcome rain last night. Several spots have reported over 1/2″ of rain during the past 36 hours. The rain will taper off from west to east this morning. Highs will only climb into the mid 70s. High pressure will dominte our weather this weekend. That means sunshine and pleasant readings. Another fornt will move in for the first os next week bringing a good chance for showers and thunderstorms on Monday. The tropics remain very active this weekend. Tropical Storm Hanna will move up the east coast producing strong winds and heavy rainfall. Hurricane Ike is a major hurricane with winds of 125mph. Ike may move into the Bahamas and Florida during the first of next week. Lingering Showers OvernightSeptember 4, 2008 – 10:28 pmClouds and a few showers are in the forecast overnight. Lows will be in the middle 60s. Once a cold front sweeps the moisture east, the weather pattern will dry out and turn less muggy. With partly sunny skies in the afternoon forecast, high temperatures reach the middle and upper 70s. Rain Chances Continue TonightSeptember 4, 2008 – 4:49 pmScattered showers and storms are in the forecast this evening and overnight. Most of the moisture moving through our area is associated with what was once Hurricane Gustav. The rain chances end as a cold front sweeps the moisture east on Friday afternoon. Behind the front, it will be a bit cooler and less humid for Friday afternoon. The pattern remains dry and mild for the weekend too. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will reach the upper 70s and lower 80s. On the other hand, the East Coast will have all eyes on Hanna and Ike. Here is the latest track on Hanna. Ike will most likely strengthen to a hurricane and head to southeast Florida by early next week. Here Comes Rain From Gustav!September 4, 2008 – 9:53 amForecast 8 VIPIR Radar is showing a large area of rain across Illinois and Missouri now spreading into southwest Indiana. I do look for showers and thunderstorms to become likely this afternoon. A couple of storms may contain gusty winds and possibly a weak tornado. Severe Storms Possible Today!September 4, 2008 – 6:18 amForecast 8 VIPIR Radar shows a large area of rain across much of Illinois and Missouri. Central Indiana will see scattered thunderstorms today. There is a threat for severe storms with the main threat being damaging winds and possibly a few tornadoes. Temperatures will be cooler today. A cold front will move through the state Friday morning. Cooler and less humid air will move into Indiana for the weekend. We are still watching Tropical Storm Hanna and Hurricane Ike. Hanna’s winds are 70mph and Ike is a category 4 storm with sustained winds of 145mph. Most of the rain you see on Forecast 8 Futurecast is associated with what was once Hurricane Gustav. The East Coast is also watching Hanna. There are 2 additional storms across the Atlantic - Ike and Josephine. The tropcis remain very active. Our rain chances will end early Friday. Much Needed RainSeptember 3, 2008 – 5:15 pmFinally some much needed rain is falling across parts of central Indiana. Scattered showers and storms are in the forecast this evening. More rain chances are on the way for Thursday. The steadiest rain falling across Illinois is in part due to what was once Hurricane Gustav.
